DISCIPLINE POLICY

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss

I maintain a positive discipline policy. I use positive reinforcement to teach problem solving skills, empathy, respect, and to understand boundaries. The children are taught the rules of the center frequently, so they are all familiar with the guidelines. Young children have a hard time expressing their feelings. Sometimes they hit, throw toys, bite, etc. I will try to prevent problems and use "time outs" for 30 seconds if their inappropriate behavior continues. Afterwards, I sit down with the child and explain to them why the time out occurred and what proper behavior of the center is expected. The use of physical force as a disciplinary action is strictly prohibited.
